Instructions

When you donate a gift of securities to Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation the taxable capital gain is eliminated.  You will receive a tax receipt for the full market value of the security in the amount of the closing trading price on the day DMRF receives the security.

This process can take place in three simple steps:

1

Contact your financial advisor.

It is important to discuss your interest in making a gift to DMRF with a trusted financial advisor.

2

Contact Ms. Jen Laurette at DMRF.

This is an opportunity to discuss the purpose of your gift, units being considered, and to provide her with your broker's contact information.

3

Work with your broker to initiate the transfer.

To initiate the transfer, your broker needs to contact the Foundation's custodian: Transfer of Securities Form

DMRF will send you an acknowledgement of your donation in a timely fashion, with tax receipt to follow.
