Clinical and health services research to improve access to and quality of surgical care for cancer patients.
Improving access and quality
As a surgeon and clinical head of Capital Health’s Cancer Care Program, Dr. Geoff Porter knows time is of the essence when diagnosing and treating cancer. His research aims to find and remove roadblocks that might hinder a patient’s access to timely, high-quality care in Nova Scotia. At the same time, he’s working to improve the quality of cancer surgery Canada-wide, as national leader of the breast cancer Synoptic Reporting Tools Project, a $1.2-million project funded by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.
