A maximum of $3,250 to support the costs of a visiting lecturer to the Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine.

DMRF Gillian's Hope Visiting Scholar in MS Research

A maximum of $3,250 to support the costs of a visiting lecturer to the Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine (in the area of MS Researh)

DMRF Karen Mann Lectureship in Medical Education

Due Date ~ Friday, February 8, 2019 (4:00pm)
Named in memory of Dr. Karen Mann, the purpose of the lectureship is to bring internationally respected experts in medicl education to Dalhousie University to engage with students, faculty, staff, donors, volunteers and/or members of the general public.  Up to $4,500 is available to support each visit.

DMRF Conference Grants

Due Date ~ Monday, February 25, 2019 (4:00pm)
A maximum of two $5,000 grants or one $10,000 grant to support a conference taking place in the next fiscal year - for the current competition, the conference must be taking place at Dalhousie University sometime between April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020.  

DMRF Kathryn A. Weldon Travel Awards

Due Date ~ Monday, February 25, 2019 (4:00pm)
Six awards of $2,000 for conference travel to make a presentation are available for graduate students in the Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine.

DMRF Dr. J. Donald Hatcher Research Prize

Due Date ~ Monday, March 18, 2019 (4:00pm)
For fourth-year medical students, this $2,000 prize recognizes medical research excellence in work undertaken during undergraduate medical training.

DMRF Frank and Debbi Sobey Lectureship

Due Date ~ Monday, April 15, 2019 (4:00pm)
The purpose of this Lectureship is to bring internationally respected experts in one of the following areas of research: Alzheimer's, prostate cancer, or cardiovascular, to Dalhousie University to engage with students, faculty, staff, donors, volunteers and/or members of the general public.  Up to $5,000 is available annually to support each visit.  Please note that there is a rotation in the areas of research - this year's area of research is Prostate Cancer.

DMRF CIBC Graduate Studentship

Due Date ~ Monday, May 20, 2019 (4:00pm)
This award is intended to provide support to students who are pursuing a Master's Degree or a PhD in the area of cancer immunotherapies at Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine.  Candidates are expected to have an exceptionally high potential for future research achievement and productivity.  A maximum trainee stipend of $20,000 per year will be available for a one year period.

DMRF Molly Appeal Fall 2019 CALL for APPLICATIONS

Due Date ~ Thursday, May 30, 2019 (4:00pm)
Maximum $250,000 funding request.  DMRF invites members of the Dalhousie Medical Research Community to submit research funding applications for the FALL 2019 Molly Appeal for Wave 1 Research (to launch in September 2019)

  • DMRF welcomes one application from each of the three components of Wave 1 Research.
  • Co-submission from multiple WAVE groups is also acceptable/encouraged.

Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation / Faculty of Medicine RIM Studentships

Due Date ~ Contact RIM office at rim@dal.ca  
DMRF supports RIM by providing $5,000 stipends for medical students to carry out a research project in the summer after their Med 1 or Med 2 year.
