DMRF Frank and Debbi Sobey Lectureship

“My experience with cancer reaffirmed my already-strong belief in the value of research. Debbi and I created the Soillse fund because the word Soillse is Gaelic for 'guiding light' and the goal of this project is to shed light on how best to improve outcomes and quality of life for men following treatment for prostate cancer." - Mr. Frank Sobey, DMRF donor and former board chair.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian men (excluding non-melanoma skin cancers). With a diagnosis rate of 1 in 9 Canadian men, efforts to establish preventative measures, speedier diagnosis, better treatments and, post-treatment care are imperative. Ultimately, researchers are driven to find a cure for this challenging form of cancer. We are therefore proud to present:

The DMRF Frank and Debbi Sobey Lectureship, featuring world-renowned Professor in the Department of Urology at Norway's Akershus University Hospital in Oslo, Dr. Karol Axrona. Dr. Axcrona will speak on the internationally diverse and cutting-edge approaches to research ideas concerning prostate cancer survivorship and new ways to look at current prostate cancer assessment, treatment and survivorship challenges.
