A passion for fundraising, demonstrated strategic vision, established philanthropist expertise working with university health faculties, and a desire to advance health research outcomes, made Alyssa Grace the ideal candidate to fill the crucial position of Director of Philanthropy at DMRF. Alyssa is joining us after several years at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC, and will commence remotely on June 1st.
Alyssa has over twenty years experience leading high-level advancement initiatives and proven success heading multi-million-dollar fundraising campaigns for non-profits and universities alike. Notably, Alyssa worked in development for the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, at the University of Alberta. There, she led a six-member advancement team, developing strategic fundraising initiatives for the Faculty and consistently delivering funds ranging from $20 million to $25 million annually. During her tenure, her team’s fundraising efforts contributed to 25 per cent of the entire funds raised for the university.
As Senior Director at the BC Cancer Foundation, Alyssa worked closely with members of the Deeley Research Centre, raising $5.2 million in two years to advance Car-T cell clinical trials, including $2 million for a clean room. I, addition, she raised $5.6 million in eight months to fund the first PET/CT for Vancouver Island. The inspiration and hope that medical research brings to donors fuels her passion and drive.
Aside from many work-related successes, Alyssa has contributed to various Boards and Committees including the AFP Awards Committee, International Wine and Food Society (host and event planner) and the Alberta Diabetes Institute. She also enjoys writing and has been published in various journals and periodicals with a focus on sport psychology.
An extensive executive search was conducted over several months as we endeavoured to fill this vital positon to DMRF; Alyssa stood miles above the other candidates. We are confident she has much to contribute to our Foundation’s fundraising efforts, as well as our culture.
