Dr. Stan Kutcher, Sun Life Chair in Adolescent Mental Health

Dr. Stan Kutcher stepped into the role of Sun Life Chair in Adolescent Mental Health in October 2006. As chair, he provides leadership in the development of adolescent mental health programs that encompass health promotion, education and research –
locally, nationally and internationally.

Previously, Dr. Kutcher served as Associate Dean of International Medical Development & Research, Dalhousie Medical School. A former chair of Dalhousie’s Department of Psychiatry, he has also led the development of the Life Sciences Development Association, the Brain Repair Centre, and the International Health Office. He was named the 2004 National Champion of Mental Health Research by the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health and received the 2005 Mary Seeman Award from the Canadian Psychiatry Research Foundation in recognition of his lifetime achievements.
 
Dr. Kutcher’s current research interests include translating mental health research into clinical care and health policy. He has developed a number of mental health human resources training programs, delivered in many countries, and has helped several nations develop mental health policies, plans and capabilities.
