William Dennis Chair in Pediatric Epilepsy Research
The William Dennis Chair in Pediatric Epilepsy Research was launched in 2005 with a $2.3 million gift from the Graham Dennis family and an additional $500,000 from other donors. The Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation committed $150,000 to the endowment that will support this important new research chair. The William Dennis Chair in Pediatric Epilepsy Research honours William Dennis, who died of complications associated with an epileptic seizure in 2002. The research chair will attract new clinical and academic talent in pediatric neurology, building on the strengths of the internationally renowned epilepsy research effort already underway at Dalhousie Medical School and the IWK Health Centre. It will shed light on the nature, causes and cures of epilepsy, while providing an opportunity to educate the public and reduce stigma associated with this neurological disorder.
