Dr. Kenneth Rockwood, Weldon Chair in Alzheimer Research
Dr. Kenneth Rockwood accepted the position of the newly created Weldon Chair – supported by a $2 million endowment entrusted to the DMRF – in 2002. Dr. Rockwood is pursuing answers to questions about the fundamental nature of Alzheimer Disease, while helping patients and families cope with the disease. Keenly interested in the possibility that Alzheimer is preventable, Dr. Rockwood was the first to publish solid results indicating that lifestyle modification, especially exercise, can reduce the risk of Alzheimer and other forms of dementia. His current work is revolutionizing medical research, changing the worldview of Alzheimer Disease, and shedding light on issues of aging.
